Iriana Crosswell

Special Education Teacher, Counselor, Behavior Specialist

Iriana Crosswell is a licensed special education teacher, school counselor, mental health counselor, school building leader and behavior specialist. She has a passion for helping individuals across all neuro-diverse categories gain confidence and independence. Iriana has worked with students from a broad band of categories, including autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances, ADHD, mental health disorders, and stressor-related disorders. It is her belief that every individual deserves the support of a caring professional, and that, by supporting the individual, we support the entire family unit. She is the founder of Blossoming Through Behavior, a behavior intervention program designed to provide individualized support for children and their caregivers using strategies that enhance the overall quality of life.

Iriana holds a Master of Arts in counseling from Alfred University and is New York State certified to teach students with disabilities, which incorporates a wide range of behavioral challenges and nuances. Iriana is highly skilled in multiple applied behavior analysis (ABA) principals as well as youth mental health counseling. Since she has experience working in classroom environments, in-home settings, and residential facilities, she is comfortable serving clients in multiple settings. Additionally, Iriana is fluent in both English and Spanish oral and written communication, which allows her to better communicate with many English and non-native English speakers.

In her mental health counseling experiences, Iriana has focused on emotional wellness and helping children identify and handle triggers that may arise. She creates interventions and behavioral therapy techniques that are tailored to each individual’s specific needs. Her nurturing and compassionate approach will help children gain as much independence and autonomy as possible, leaving them feeling confident and competent. She is also keen on involving parents and caregivers in the treatment she espouses because she has determined that when parents are listened to and given the proper tools to support their children, families thrive. This is especially true for a child’s early years.

Iriana strongly feels that, in order for children to make the most progress, they need to be supported both in school and at home. As a result, Iriana makes collaborating with all stakeholders a priority. She equips families with the tools needed to help their child grow, blossom, and thrive.

Whether a child is exhibiting challenging behavioral issues or incurs a minor treatment setback, Iriana takes a positive, nurturing approach. This way, while the child and the family make strides toward meeting their goals, they can also enjoy the process that gets them to the point of positivity. Ultimately, Iriana’s goal is to help individuals move toward their full potential, allowing them to live more fulfilled lives, and she looks forward to working with your family!
